The leather is hand antiqued and has a hand tooled border of gold leaf. The writing surface retracts when the hinged top is closed. Extra storage for writing papers and utensils is afforded through five drawers below. For ease of use with laptop computers or small lamps, an electrical cord will fit through the bottom pigeon holes and drop down towards a nearby power outlet.
